Setting the Table
My mother taught me how to set a table.
The napkin goes to the left, along with the dinner fork, and salad fork, if using. Then the plate in the middle. Any knives and spoons are to the right. You work from the outside in.
The blade of the knife is positioned inward, toward the plate. This signals that you don’t intend to stab anyone that night with your knife.
