My name is Laura Burns. Here At Table, we talk about the practice and craft of hospitality and the art of welcome from ancient times to today. 

I believe that hospitality is central to what makes us human. It binds us through culture and community, and through individual interactions every single day. With hospitality, we connect and we thrive. Without hospitality, we disconnect and we suffer.

I’ve worked in cookware shops, in restaurants as a line cook, and in cooking schools as instructor’s assistant and cooking instructor, in addition to roles in documentary film and leadership development.

I’m thrilled to be devoting myself now to learning and writing about hospitality, and contributing to the conversation through this website and blog.
